Great Progress, But Still A Long Way To Go

A year ago today, my life and those of my family were changed irrevocably as my sister suffered a massive cerebral aneurysm which left her in a deep coma. Over the next few weeks, she dangled precariously on the edge of life and death, as the staff at the Montreal Neurological Institute worked their medical wizardry. We watched helplessly as she went through three operations, and tracked her vital signs obsessively. When she finally began to come out of her coma, we let out a huge sigh of relief, but also started to worry about the recovery process. read more »
